Interim, Special Interim and Final Management Orders

Despite the statutory requirement in the Housing Act 2004 to use Management Order provisions in several different circumstances to deal with poor management in the private rented sector, few Local Authorities have taken advantage of using the new provisions. Moreover the provisions also include powers to help deal with antisocial behaviour that is not being managed by responsible private landlords. We believe the reason for the poor take up is that there is inadequate guidance and training available to provide the skills and confidence that is necessary for these provisions to be more widely used.
